A few days ago, my handphone rang. The caller on the other line said threateningly, "I'm calling from _______bank. I tried calling both your home and office numbers, and now calling you on your handphone. I need to tell you that we will be issuing you a lawyer's letter in the afternoon."

I was, like, "WHAT?!" She said in a threatening way as follows, "Your payment is overdue. We have to take legal proceedings against you." I said, "I am positive I have paid. I paid S$_________ in early April by sending in a cheque. And besides, I don't think you can just call anyone threatening legal proceedings without first clarifying matters."

A few hours later, someone else called me back and apologised. Apparently they did receive my payment, but probably due to an oversight on my part, I did not write down my name and account number on the back of the cheque, thus they were not able to trace the payment at first.

At least now all has been clarified! But that phone call really spoilt my mood! What makes anyone think they can just call others and proceed with legal actions in a threatening manner? And why must the person also insist on trying to reach me on my home and office numbers? If they need anything, can reach me on my mobile! Calling my home and office is so unnecessary! The last thing I want is for anyone to harass my family or my superior without any just cause!
